❓How to Set Up a 4G Router for Piramie 4G Internet

This guide explains how to set up a 4G LTE router to connect to the Piramie 4G network in Rwanda.

Follow the steps below to get your internet connection up and running.

What You Need Before You Start

  • 4G LTE router (unlocked and compatible with LTE networks)
  • An active Piramie 4G SIM card
  • Power adapter for the router
  • A phone, tablet, or computer with Wi-Fi

Step 1: Insert the SIM Card

  1. Power off the router.
  2. Insert the Piramie SIM card into the SIM slot (ensure correct orientation).
  3. Attach the router antennas (if external).
  4. Power the router on.
Info
Wait 1–2 minutes for the router to boot.

Step 2: Check Network Signal

  • Look at the signal indicator lights on the router.
  • If the signal is weak:
    • Move the router closer to a window
    • Place it higher (on a shelf or table)
    • Avoid walls and metal objects

Info
A stronger signal improves speed and stability.

Step 3: Connect to the Router Wi-Fi

  1. On your phone or computer, open Wi-Fi settings.
  2. Connect to the Wi-Fi name (SSID) shown on the router label.
  3. Enter the Wi-Fi password printed on the router.

Step 4: Access the Router Settings

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Enter the router IP address (commonly):
    • 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1
  3. Log in using the admin username and password (usually on the router label).

Step 5: Configure Mobile Network (APN)

In the router settings:

  1. Go to Network / Mobile / APN Settings
  2. Set APN details as follows:
  • APN: internet4g.piramie
  • Username: (leave blank)
  • Password: (leave blank)
  • Authentication: None or Auto
  • Network Mode: LTE / 4G Only (recommended)

Info
Save settings and restart the router if prompted.

Step 6: Confirm Internet Connection

  • Once connected, the router status should show 4G / LTE connected
  • Open a website (e.g. google.com) to confirm internet access

Info
If the page loads, your setup is complete.

Common Troubleshooting Tips

  • No internet: Restart the router and recheck APN settings
  • Slow speed: Reposition the router for better signal
  • No signal: Confirm the SIM is active and properly inserted
  • Can’t log in: Reset the router (press and hold reset button for 10 seconds)
